Veggie Mobile was launched in 2013 by ProMedica Bixby Hospital and Lenawee Health Network in collaboration with area farmer’s markets and producers to bring fresh, affordable produce to the residents of Lenawee County. It is part of a key initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle in the community through a healthy diet of five servings of fruits or vegetables per day.

The Veggie Mobile is made possible through a United States Department of Agriculture grant awarded to ProMedica Bixby Hospital in partnership with Lenawee Health Network (LHN).
Founded in 2011, LHN is a collaborative of community organizations dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Lenawee County. Together, members of LHN are committed to assessing the health needs of the community; staying abreast of community, social and political climates; enhancing media attention and public recognition of health priorities and issues; being good stewards of community resources by working together to avoid the duplication of services; and developing strategies to identify and address the needs of socially isolated members of the community.
Key initiatives include: providing access to healthy foods; promoting physical fitness; preventing prescription drug abuse; preventing bullying and suicide amongst youth; and improving access to health care.
